okaaay.
now here comes another entry.
the start of the latest project.
the toughest one so far.
oh my.
im gonna dieeee.
hahas.
okaay.
lets not waste time.
and start.
my artistic influences for this project would be.
Francisco De Goya Y Lucientes
( hahas. yes his name is really long )
[ March 30th ,1746 - April 16th , 1828]
he was an Aragonese Spanish painter and printmaker.
Goya was a court painter to the Spanish Crown and a chronicler of history.
He has been regarded both as the last of the Old Masters and as the first of the moderns.
The subversive and subjective element in his art, as well as his bold handling of paint, provided a model for the work of later generations of artists, notably Manet and Picasso.
with his works like ,
the Los Caprichos series.
it is a set of eighty etchings by the spanish artist himself.
it was published in 1799.
and it is known to be one of the most influential series of graphic images in the history of Western art.
here are some examples of his etchings.
and one his most popular etching .
the 43rd one of his 80 etching.
the most famous plate of the series,
it has gone on to become an iconic image,
with its title often being quoted from Goya.
The Sleep Of Reason Produces Monsters
this print depicts an artist asleep at his drawing table.
An ominous mass of nighttime creatures , the bats, owls and a large cat emerge from the darkness and converge upon him.
these eighteenth-century symbols of disorder, folly, and superstition stand in sharp contrast to the figure bathed in the light of reason.
Here the macabre dream world serves as a metaphor for imagination, the producer of irrational thoughts and fears.
okaaay ,
and as you can see from his work ,
the drawings and all were Goya's artistic experiment ,
a medium for his condemnation of the universal follies and foolishness in the Spanish society in which he lived.
The criticisms are far-ranging and acidic ,
he speaks against the predominance of supersistion , the ignorance and inabilities of the various members of the ruling class, pedagogical short-comings, marital mistakes, and the decline of rationality among other things.
and what GOYA would describe his work or the series as would be ,
"the innumerable foibles and follies to be found in any civilized society, and from the common prejudices and deceitful practices which custom, ignorance, or self-interest have made usual".
the series , Los Caprichos were withdrawn from public sale very shortly after their release in 1799.
okay ,
i love the way he explains his thoughts and the way he expresses his stuff.
it is somewhat unique and wacky.
like for example , one of his etchings about the donkey playing the piano.
having a donkey head , donkey hands and donkeys legs in human clothing.
holding a music book.
i would definitely want to do something wacky like that too.
it will not only appear weird , but it'll appear pretty cool and unique.
one of a kind. and definitely VERY creative.
*applause and bows* to francisco goya.
three cheers to him !
(:
